As someone who has always had a deep appreciation for the Low Country and the Florida coast, Lauren is enjoying her new life living in Florida full time.
Up until her recent move, Lauren resided in Augusta, Georgia for over 30 years. It was there that she developed her love of painting en plein air during her weekly paint outs.
Whether in watercolor, gouache or oil, capturing the essence of a moment through plein air studies is the essential inspiration her studio works.
Working swiftly on location brings a wealth of elements to incorporate, grabbing quickly what could go unnoticed.
The invaluable studies are her notes holding the local color, light, and spirit of the day along with the memory of the initial spark.
Through her direct impressionistic style, Lauren brings to paper or canvas a scene that allows the viewer a personal journey and true sense of being there in that moment.
With a lifelong love of learning, she is largely self-taught. Lauren has had the privilege of studying with many acclaimed artist; Charles Reid, Bea Kuhlke, Carrie Brown, Judi Betts, Bill Davidson, Mark Horton, Chris Groves, Mary Whyte, and Roger Dale Brown.
